Winter Wonderland

Over ten thousand residents flocked to enjoy the festivities at the Council’s first Big 6 event, Winter Wonderland.

Coronation Gardens in Leyton was transformed into a magical Winter Wonderland on 10-11 December 2011 for all to enjoy.

The synthetic ice rink was packed full both days from tiny tots to the elderly going for a skate. Younger residents also enjoyed a visit from Santa in his grotto for storytelling and a gift. Families had an a-maze-ing time in the maze and admiring the handiwork of the ice sculptor, but the definite highlight, the one thing that everybody loved, were the penguins and reindeer.

Forest Philharmonic and London Forest Choir also delighted the crowds with their rendition of festive songs.

One local resident sent us this message: "Fantastic event at Winter Wonderland. Thanks so much Waltham Forest Big 6 events - the whole family had a great time... Highlights were ice skating, Santa and fabulous face painting. It was really well organised and such a treat when times are so tight financially."

There are still five more events to go:
